I think people who are in touch with the state of the world right now recognize that we’re basically all skating on thin ice.

There is a profound sense of uncertainty and potentially you know looming danger of catastrophic proportions and it takes a lot of courage to face that we can’t simply be sure we can be bringing in some technological fix or rational solution to the situation.

Uncertainty itself is a key part of of any initiatory transformation.

You can’t’ have a pretend near-death experience in order to have an effective transfiguration of how you live. You need to really feel everything is at stake and you don’t know the outcome and if we have the courage to face that and to go thought this dark night of the soul in some sense and to bring all our wits and heart and imagination and bravery together to engage this great threshold I think that’s the key to our future.
